Acadia is excited to welcome Seikou (he/him) as our Untold Histories Research Assistant. Seikou is working 16 weeks this summer through AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer In Service to America) and the American Conservation Experience’s Cultural Resource Diversity Internship Program.
Seikou will help create a more inclusive visitor experience by developing information for rangers that more thoroughly represents the rich history of diversity at Acadia.
Focused mainly on accurately representing those experiences of people of color, Seikou’s efforts may also include helping the park highlight those whose stories are often untold, including the role of women, LGBTQ+, and Indigenous peoples. His work will help create a space where people of all backgrounds feel represented and welcome.
When asked what most excites him about this internship, Seikou responded, “I want to share my enthusiasm and passion for learning about our park’s diverse history to make all national parks a place to celebrate the diversity and shared history of our country.”
Welcome Seikou!
