Franklin County Sheriff Office Congratulations Sergeant Ryan E. Close

Friday July 29th, 2022

The Sheriff’s Medal recognizes exemplary job performance above and beyond the normal course of daily duties.  This award highlights the extra work, effort and dedication by a Deputy to the mission of the Sheriff’s Office that shines a positive light upon the entire organization.

No words can better describe the Deputy to be recognized.  This 15 year Law Enforcement veteran has only been serving at the Sheriff’s Office for 1 year.  However, during that year he has made significant contributions to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.  On top of his duties as a patrol supervisor, he has taken it upon himself to reach out to various local community organizations from Farmington to the University of Maine in Orono.  These meetings have not only opened communications, but have established the trust needed to help deal with various issues affecting the citizens of Franklin County such as the opioid epidemic. The collaborative effort established by Sergeant Close has enabled him to research and apply for federal grant money to help with school safety programs throughout Franklin County.  No one in recent memory has contributed so much in such a short period of time.

As a result of his actions, it is my great privilege to recognize Sergeant Ryan E. Close as not only Deputy of the Second Quarter, but to award him with the Sheriff’s Medal.
