The Mexico Town Office and Mexico Highway Department are pleased to announce that we will be participating in a collaborative program called “Sand for Seniors” again this year.
Sand for seniors is a program where employees from the Mexico Highway Department deliver a bucket of sand/salt to citizens in the community to use on their icy walkways or driveways. Landlords should be supplying their tenants with sand. The program is for senior citizens that are otherwise not able to pick up sand/salt from the Highway garage on their own. Additionally, this program gets members of the Highway Department in contact with seniors who may need other services or support. Please call 364-7971 or email rwelch@mexicomaine.net . We would love to start getting some people signed up before we start handling the snowfall and ice. Also, once your bucket needs to be filled again, just do the same process and we will switch out buckets.
