University of Maine at Farmington Beavers Get Their 1st Win of the Season, Placing 1st in GS and 2nd in Slalom

The University of Maine at Farmington men's alpine team grabbed their 1st win of the season with a victory in the giant slalom and placed in the 2nd in the slalom today at Pleasant Mountain. The Beavers tallied eight place points in their giant slalom victory and 13 place points in slalom.

Giant Slalom:

Jacob Roy (Frenchville, Maine) was the fastest skier on the course in each of his two runs. Roy finished his 1st run in 30.87 seconds and followed it up with a slightly fast 30.79 second time in his 2nd run. 

Lake Lindelof (Belfast, Maine) put together a solid two run time of 1:02.66 to claim the 2nd place finish and join Roy on the podium.

Simon Spear (Boothbay, Maine) finished in 5th place with a two-run time of 1:04.39. Spear sat in 8th place after his 1st run but was able to cut off 0.97 seconds off from his time in his 2nd run to jump up to 5th place overall.

Lance Dolan (Coplin Plantation, Maine) and Gavin Crowley (Southington, Conn.) each finished inside the top 10 as Dolan came in 9th place with Crowley right behind him in 10th. Dolan put out a time of 1:06.05 and Crowley finished his two runs in a cumulative time of 1:07.02.

Roy, Lindelof, and Spear contributed to the Beavers cumulative time of 3:08.96 to beat out the Monks of Saint Joseph's College.

Slalom:

Spear was great in slalom as well, getting himself on the podium with a 2nd place finish. Spear had a cumulative two-run time of 1:36.73. Spear finished just 0.65 seconds behind Jack Price of Saint Joe's for first place.

Lindelof continued his productive day in the slalom race as well. Lindelof once again placed inside the top five. This time with a 5th place finish with a time of 1:40.29.

Nick Quast (Ossining, N.Y.) finished 0.34 second behind Lindelof and finished 6th overall. Quast's two-run cumulative time was 1:40.63.

Jay Schwartz (Bedford, Mass.) and Crowley each finished inside the top 10 as well for the Beavers. Schwartz came in second with a two-run time of 1:40.64, just .01 second behind Quast. Crowley was not far behind in 9th place, finishing his two runs in a cumulative time of 1:41.59.

Spear, Lindelof, and Quast combined for a 4:57.65 time. The time from the Beavers was just 1.59 second behind the Monks who placed 1st.

UP NEXT

The Beavers will head to Henniker, New Hampshire next Saturday to compete in a Reynolds Division slalom event held at Pats Peak.
