Deputy of the Fourth Quarter | Franklin County Sheriff Office
While visiting Cape Cod Hill School today in New Sharon we had the opportunity to recognize our Deputy of the fourth quarter. Deputy Alec Frost. Pictured is Deputy Frost on the left receiving well deserved recognition from Sheriff Nichols.
Dep. Frost returned to the Sheriff’s Office after a Temporary Duty for Training assignment with the Air Force. He wasted no time in re-investing in the community, identifying areas of concern and starting pro-active patrol and investigations into illegal drug activity. Dep. Frost utilized the team first motto of the Sheriff’s Office by openly communicating with other deputies, the criminal investigation division, and officers of neighboring communities to narrow his focus and effectively make arrests for Felony Drug Trafficking in Temple.
He further exemplified the agency’s community-based policing efforts by assisting those in relation to the Temple investigation who were afflicted with addiction by connecting them with local organizations who specialize in addiction recovery. He continued his efforts by re-focusing on similar complaints of illegal drug trafficking in Chesterville and Avon. Dep. Frost successfully identified several key players in the Chesterville drug trafficking ring, again sharing the information with other officers to forward that investigation.
Dep. Frost worked hand in hand with the criminal investigation division in identifying a suspected drug trafficker in Avon, conducting a quality traffic stop on the same, arresting the operator, seizing the vehicle, coordinating an outside agency K-9 response, writing a search warrant on the vehicle which was approved by the Attorney General’s Office and signed by a sitting judge. He then organized a warrant search of the vehicle incorporating multiple officers at a neighboring agency’s location all while managing incoming calls for service.
Dep. Frost’s ability to work independently at such a high level while maintaining open communication with supervision and other officers emphasizes his embodiment as a stand-out Franklin County Deputy. He has managed his case-load and independent investigations all while building his resume as an enforcer of Maine’s Impaired Driving standards. Due to his efforts, he has been accepted into the Maine Criminal Justice Academy’s Drug Recognition Expert program where he will undoubtedly become certified and further assist local agencies in their operating under the influence investigations.
The superior efforts of Deputy Frost reflect greatly upon himself and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. For the reasons stated above and many more, Deputy Alec Frost for Deputy of the fourth quarter 2022.
