The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team took down Maine Maritime Academy on the road this afternoon in a North Atlantic Contest (NAC) in Castine, 90-54. With the victory the Beavers have clinched the #1 overall seed for the NAC tournament. The Beavers are now 15-7 on the year, with an 11-1 record in NAC play and 8-0 against NAC East opponents.

The teams traded hoops for the opening 12:30 of the contest as the game was knotted up at 20. Over the course of the next 4:30, the Beavers went on an 18-4 run to open up a 14 point lead. Kyle Donlin (Warren, Maine) began the run by connecting on a pair of threes. Jack Kane (Cumberland, Maine) and Drew Storey (Cumberland, Maine) each threw down loud dunks to give all of the momentum to Farmington. Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.) and Terion Moss (Portland, Maine) also connected on three-pointers on the run for the Beavers.

The Mariners battled to not let the game get out of control, and cut the Beavers lead to 11 heading into the 2nd half.

The Mariners continued to battle to open up the 2nd half as Markus Ramirez hit a three and another jumper to pull Maine Maritime back within six. A Moss three helped halt the Mariners momentum. The Beavers took an 11-point lead on a Donlin three with 16:50 left to play. The three from Donlin sparked a 31-7 run over the next nine and a half minutes of game time to blow the game wide open and give the Beavers a 32-point lead.

The Beavers held onto a 30-plus point lead for the remainder of the contest.

Saturday marked a complete team performance for the Beavers, with four players in double figures and six with seven or more points. Moss, Kane, and Donlin each tallied 17 points. Moss added six rebounds and six assists. Donlin added nine rebounds. Mickle added 12 points on 4-6 shooting threes.

The Mariners had three players in double-digits. Connor Tuerff scored a team-high 13 points. Ramirez added 11 points while Curt Heinz recorded a double-double with 10 points and 15 boards.
