The regular season for alpine skiing wrapped up on Saturday following the giant slalom event at Sugarloaf. The men's team swept the podium with sophomore Jacob Roy (Frenchville, Maine), freshman Sam Roy (Frenchville, Maine), and freshman Lake Lindelof (Belfast, Maine) finishing as the three fastest racers. On the women's side, they also finished in 1st place with freshman Lauren Kessen (Sussex, Wisc.) taking 1st overall and sophomore Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) finished in 3rd place overall. With the pair of 1st place finishes for the men's and women's teams, they clinched the Ricker Cup for the 2023 season. The coveted Ricker Cup is awarded annually to the top combined men's and women's program in the USCSA Reynolds Division.
For the season, the women's alpine team won the overall division, while the men finished 2nd overall in the Reynolds Division. For the season from an individual standpoint, Kessen and senior Simon Spear (Boothbay, Maine) each took home individual crowns.
Also after the conclusion of Saturday's race, the Reynolds Division named All-Division teams with the top-five skiers for the overall season being named to the All-Division 1st Team and skiers 6-10 for the season being named to the All-Division 2nd team.
On the women's side, Kessen, Mahmood, and Hokulani Caroselli each were named All-Division 1st team members. Mahmood finished 3rd overall for the season while Caroselli was 5th. Teagan Andrew (Goffstown, N.H.) was named to the Reynolds Division 2nd team as the 9th overall skier.
On the men's side, Spear and Lindelof were 1st team All-Division honorees. Lindelof finished the season ranked 4th. Colgan O'Keefe (Westchester, N.Y.) and Sam Roy were named to the Reynolds Division 2nd team. Lindelof finished 4th overall for the season. O'Keefe finished 9th on the season while Sam Roy was 10th.
The Beavers will return to the mountain this weekend for the two day Eastern Cup at Sugarloaf where they will be competing for a chance to qualify for the National Championship held at Mammoth Mountain in California. Giant slalom will be on Saturday with slalom taking place on Sunday.
