The Husson University women's volleyball team took the two hour bus trip south as they dropped a 3-1 decision to the Bates College Bobcats at Alumni Gymnasium.
Bates (1-0) won the first set wire-to-wire before the Eagles (1-2) battled back and took the second set thanks to scoring five straight points after trailing, 17-14, and never surrounding the lead. The Eagles would continue to battle in the final two sets but couldn't mount the comeback in either set as they fell in defeat.
Sophomore Julia Leavitt led the Eagles' attack with 12 kills while senior Cheyenne Young added eight kills. Sophomore Alexa Beal earned two blocking points while sophomore Alyvia McIntyre recorded 23 assists and ten digs for the double-double. Senior Amber Lemay led the defense with 12 digs while Young also had ten.
The women's volleyball team will play their final two games before their home opener on Saturday when they travel to UMass Dartmouth to take on the Corsairs and Framingham State with the first match starting at 11:00 a.m.
