The UMaine-Farmington Men's Cross Country team placed sixth today at the Maine State Championship hosted by Husson University. The Beavers amassed 164 points at the 8k race and had a five-man average time of 27:38 to break the program's 8k average time record. The 27:38 average time broke the previous record by 20 seconds.
Covy Dufort (Wells, Maine) was the first Beaver to cross the finish line today as he did so in 26:47.9 to finish in 31st place. The finish from Dufort was the 5th fastest time in program history. Dufort was closely followed by Justin Castaldo (Scarborough, Maine) who came in 34th place with a time of 26:52.6. Castaldo's time was the 8th fastest time all-time for the Beavers.
Jimmy Reel (Nashua, N.H.) finished the race in 27:25.7 to finish in 49th place. Connor Freeman (Bath, Maine) finished behind Reel in 54th place with a time of 27:40.7. Sam True (Whitefield, Maine), the final contributor to the five-man average, finished in 29:24 to come in 79th place.
Madison Brown (Gorham, Maine) also finished the race for the Beavers. Brown came in 99th place with a time of 32:04.7.
Bates College came in first place as a team as they had five of the top ten finishers at the race. Tyler Morris of Colby College finished in first place with a time of 24:15.3.
