On Sunday afternoon the University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team traveled to Gorham to take on the University of Southern Maine in their final game of the regular season and fell 1-0. The Beavers end their season 8-6-2.
After a scoreless first half, the Huskies were able to crack the scoreboard in the 48th minute. Noah Perry (Waterboro, Maine) rifled a freekick on net from about 30 yards out that senior goalkeeper Jonah Sautter (Lisbon Falls, Maine) was able to make a brilliant diving save on. Unfortunately for Sautter, the rebound deflected directly to Cole Johnson (Orange, Mass.) who was able to put the rebound home.
The Beavers were unable to mount sustained offensive pressure this afternoon as they registered just five shots including two on frame. The Huskies were able to produce 18 shots with nine on frame.
Sautter started in net for the Beavers, playing the first 60 minutes and picking up five saves. Jack Wormald (Salisbury, N.H.) came in for Sautter and picked up two saves for the Beavers.
The Beavers registered four corner kicks to the Huskies six.
