University of Maine at Farmington Beavers Voted Fifth in NAC East

The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) released the results from the 2022 Women's Basketball Coaches Poll this afternoon and the University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team was selected to finish fifth in the NAC East Division.

The Beavers lost seven senior seniors from a season ago, including all five of their starters. The Beavers will look to retool with a young group that is eager to compete in a competing conference. Junior guard Jaycie Stevens (Pittston, Maine) played the most minutes of all the returners from a season ago but will be asked to fill a much bigger role this season. The Beavers also return senior guard Courtney Brent (Gorham, Maine) who will be asked to fill the scoring void vacated by the graduating seniors. The Beavers also return Maddy White (Waldoboro, Maine), Jalyn Stacey (West Baldwin, Maine), Kiely Reynolds (Farmington, Maine), Victoria Garand (Portland, Maine), Rosalie White (Lisbon, Maine), Jacqui Hamilton (Gorham, Maine), and Emily Small (Cumberland, Maine).

Head Coach Nate Carson brought in a solid group of freshmen that includes former Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference All-Conference selection Grace Dwyer (Manchester, Maine), Ruby McMinis (Wells, Maine), and Mikayla Rioux (Winslow, Maine).

Carson is looking forward to this season and excited to see the strides his young team can take over the course of the year.

The Beavers will open up their season this Saturday, November 12th as they take on New England College in the Spartan Classic hosted by Castleton University on Saturday at 7 PM.

The coaches voted Husson University to repeat as the NAC East Division Champions as they received all six first place votes.. The Eagles return reigning NAC Player of the Year and MWBCA Player of the Year, Bailey Donovan (Island Falls, Maine).

On the West side, reigning NAC Champions, SUNY Poly was elected by the coaches to repeat. The Wildcats return a pair of first team All-Conference members in Molly Burdick (Johnson City, N.Y.) and Lyrik Jackson (Syracuse, N.Y.).
